Learning and development opportunities for Macmillan professionals in 2017

You know that cancer affects people in every way, from their health and their relationships, right through to their finances and their work. Their needs are ever changing and, as a result, so are the demands placed on you.

UK-wide Courses Online Courses Learning & Development Grants Coaching

UK-wide L&D offer

To help equip you to meet these needs and demands, we've designed a clear modular framework that divides the courses into six specific themes.

We Are Macmillan

Macmillan believes that no one should face cancer alone. To find out more about our aims and our strategies - and the crucial role you play in helping us to achieve them - these are the courses for you.

Living with the impact of cancer

Equip yourself with the vital skills you need to strengthen your relationships with people living with or beyond cancer and help them to self-manage more effectively.

Palliative and end-of-life care

When your role involves supporting people towards the end of their lives and their families, it's crucial that you receive the support you need too - and our palliative care courses can help.

Well-being and emotional resilience

From practicing mindfulness to developing strategies that combat stress and support wellbeing, these courses will enable you to look after yourself and others.

The changing cancer environment

We offer an array of fundamental courses that will help you negotiate difficult situations and improve your understanding of cancer care's ever-changing landscape.

Leadership and change

Whether you need to deliver memorable presentations, manage projects or lead teams, these courses will provide you with the knowledge and the confidence you need to shine.

Before you book

Once you know the courses you need, you can attend any of them anywhere in the UK - it doesn't matter where you live or where you are based. Please ask your employer to cover the costs of transport and overnight accommodation in the first instance, but if they can't, more help is available:

We've also launched a new Coaching Programme. Comprising six two-hour sessions with a fully qualified coach, the programme is ideal for Macmillan Professionals in need of bespoke support as it's designed to help you face the challenges of your role head on.

Choose the right level

Whatever the stage of your career, you're guaranteed to find opportunities that suit you. The levels of courses available are:

  • Foundation
Focusing on core knowledge and skills, and looking at how to apply some of the learning in your workplace.
  • Intermediate
Providing you with more detailed knowledge and skills, and exploring how to apply these within the remit of your role.
  • Advanced
Offering a higher-level provision of knowledge and skills, and focusing on how to apply them at a more advanced or strategic level.
