Guidance for volunteers helping Macmillan produce information about cancer types, tests and treatments, and living with and after cancer in a variety of formats.

Macmillan Cancer Support believes that good-quality information can help people affected by cancer understand their situation and make better decisions about their treatment and day-to-day lives.

Our information is produced by an experienced team of cancer information development nurses and content editors. We produce information about cancer types, tests and treatments, and living with and after cancer in a variety of formats.

This resource is for volunteers who:

  • have been affected by cancer and use their experience to review.

After working through this resource you'll:

  • understand how the reviewer role fits into the wider development process of our cancer information, including the importance of the Information Standard accreditation
  • be able to identify our team's tone of voice within written information
  • be confident and able to give detailed and specific feedback on our information in order to best support people affected by cancer.
