How to implement the Macmillan Values Based Standard

Written on the

Helping health professionals and service users to improve the patient experience.

The Macmillan Values Based Standard is a framework for improving patient experience of healthcare, based on human rights principles. It consists of eight behaviours based on dignity and respect that both patients and staff have told us matter to them throughout the cancer journey. These practical behaviours support staff to treat patients consistently in a range of contexts, helping to ensure that patients always receive the highest quality care.

This new toolkit takes you through the Standard step-by-step. It enables you to carry them out yourself and to engage your staff in following the framework too. It uses case studies to demonstrate each aspect.
